Past Simple Tense
Das Past Simple wird verwendet, um über abgeschlossene Handlungen und Situationen in der Vergangenheit zu sprechen. Es ist eine der am häufigsten verwendeten Zeitformen im Englischen.
Das Past Simple hat unterschiedliche Formen, je nachdem, ob Sie das Verb 'be' oder andere Verben verwenden. Das Verb 'be' hat zwei Vergangenheitsformen (was/were), während andere Verben entweder regelmäßige Vergangenheitsformen (endend auf -ed) oder unregelmäßige Vergangenheitsformen haben.

Bejahte Form mit 'be'
Das Verb 'be' hat zwei Formen im Past Simple: 'was' (für I, he, she, it) und 'were' (für you, we, they).

Verneinte Form mit 'be'
Um Verneinungen mit 'be' zu bilden, fügen Sie 'not' nach was/were ein. Kurzformen werden häufig in gesprochener Sprache verwendet.

Um Fragen mit 'be' zu bilden, stellen Sie was/were vor das Subjekt.
Beispiele:
- Was I late for the meeting?
- Were you at the concert last night?
- Was he angry about the decision?
- Was she your teacher?
- Was it expensive?
- Were we on the same team?
- Were they at home yesterday?
W-Fragen mit 'be'
W-Fragen beginnen mit einem Fragewort (who, what, where, when, why, how), gefolgt von was/were und dem Subjekt.
Beispiele:
- Where was I when you called?
- Why were you absent yesterday?
- Who was he with at the restaurant?
- How was she after the operation?
- What was it like in London?
- When were we supposed to meet?
- Where were they last weekend?
Bejahte Form mit anderen Verben
Bei anderen Verben verwenden Sie die Vergangenheitsform. Regelmäßige Verben fügen -ed hinzu, während unregelmäßige Verben spezielle Vergangenheitsformen haben.

Verwenden Sie 'did not' (didn't) + Grundform des Verbs für Verneinungen.

- Did we meet last year?
- Did they arrive on time?
W-Fragen mit anderen Verben
Beginnen Sie mit einem Fragewort, dann verwenden Sie 'did' + Subjekt + Grundform des Verbs.
Beispiele:
