Future Simple vs Present Continuous (para futuro)

Future Simple (will + base verb)

Nivel de Certeza y Planificación

Espontáneo vs Planificado:

Future Simple: "I'll visit my parents this weekend."

→ Recién decidido, no se han hecho acuerdos específicos

Present Continuous: "I'm visiting my parents this weekend."

→ Ya acordado, me están esperando

Predicción vs Acuerdo:

Future Simple: "The meeting will be next Tuesday."

→ Esperando/prediciendo cuándo ocurrirá

Present Continuous: "The meeting is next Tuesday."

→ Ya programado, en la agenda

Oferta vs Plan Existente:

Future Simple: "I'll cook dinner tonight."

→ Oferta espontánea o decisión recién tomada

Present Continuous: "I'm cooking dinner tonight."

→ Ya planificado, ingredientes comprados

Present Continuous requiere preparación/acuerdo:

• "We're getting married next month. (venue booked, invitations sent)"

• "I'm starting a new job on Monday. (contract signed, start date confirmed)"

• "They're moving house next week. (removal van booked, boxes packed)"

• "She's having surgery tomorrow. (hospital appointment scheduled)"

→ Pasos concretos ya tomados

Future Simple para decisiones/reacciones inmediatas:

• "It's cold in here. I'll close the window. (just noticed, deciding now)"

• "The phone's ringing. I'll answer it. (reacting to the moment)"

• "You look tired. I'll make you some tea. (responding to what I see)"

• "I'll help you with those bags. (spontaneous offer)"
