Past Continuous (Past Progressive)

El Past Continuous describe acciones o situaciones que estaban en progreso en un momento particular del pasado. Enfatiza la naturaleza continua de la acción en lugar de su finalización.

Formamos el Past Continuous con was/were + la forma -ing del verbo. Usa 'was' con I, he, she, it y 'were' con you, we, they.

Forma el Past Continuous con was/were + verbo-ing.

Forma Negativa

Añade 'not' después de was/were para hacer negativos. Las contracciones se usan comúnmente.

Preguntas Sí/No

Mueve was/were antes del sujeto para formar preguntas.

Ejemplos:

  • Was I reading at 8 o'clock?
  • Were you walking in the park?
  • Was he cooking dinner?
  • Was she talking on the phone?
  • Was it raining this morning?
  • Were we playing football yesterday?
  • Were they studying together?

Preguntas con Wh-

Comienza con una palabra interrogativa, luego usa was/were + sujeto + verbo-ing.

Ejemplos:

  • What was I reading?
  • Where were you walking?
  • What was he cooking?
  • Who was she talking to?
  • When was it raining?
  • What were we playing?
  • What were they studying?

Uso

Nota: Los verbos estativos (como know, like, believe, want) generalmente no se usan en formas continuas. Describen estados en lugar de acciones.
