Go to Practice ExercisesEl Past Simple se usa para hablar de acciones y situaciones completadas en el pasado. Es uno de los tiempos más comúnmente utilizados en inglés.
El Past Simple tiene formas diferentes dependiendo de si usas el verbo 'be' u otros verbos. El verbo 'be' tiene dos formas en el pasado (was/were), mientras que otros verbos usan formas regulares del pasado (terminando en -ed) o formas irregulares del pasado.

Formación
Forma Afirmativa con 'be'
El verbo 'be' tiene dos formas en el Past Simple: 'was' (para I, he, she, it) y 'were' (para you, we, they).

Forma Negativa con 'be'
Para hacer negativos con 'be', añade 'not' después de was/were. Las contracciones son comúnmente usadas en inglés hablado.

Preguntas Sí/No con 'be'
Para hacer preguntas con 'be', mueve was/were antes del sujeto.
Ejemplos:

- Was he angry about the decision?
- Was she your teacher?
- Was it expensive?
- Were we on the same team?
- Were they at home yesterday?
Preguntas con Wh- y 'be'
Las preguntas con wh- comienzan con una palabra interrogativa (who, what, where, when, why, how), seguida de was/were y el sujeto.
Ejemplos:
- Where was I when you called?
- Why were you absent yesterday?
- Who was he with at the restaurant?
- How was she after the operation?
- What was it like in London?
- When were we supposed to meet?
- Where were they last weekend?
Forma Afirmativa con Otros Verbos
Para otros verbos, usa la forma en pasado. Los verbos regulares añaden -ed, mientras que los verbos irregulares tienen formas especiales en pasado.

Usa 'did not' (didn't) + forma base del verbo para negativos.

Preguntas Sí/No con Otros Verbos
Usa 'Did' + sujeto + forma base del verbo para preguntas.
Ejemplos:

- Did it work properly?
- Did we meet last year?
- Did they arrive on time?
Preguntas con Wh- y Otros Verbos
Comienza con una palabra interrogativa, luego usa 'did' + sujeto + forma base del verbo.
Ejemplos:
- Where did I put my phone?
- When did you move to London?
- Why did he leave early?
- What did she say?
- How did it happen?
- Who did we invite to the party?
- Where did they go on holiday?
