Past Simple Tense
Il Past Simple viene utilizzato per parlare di azioni e situazioni completate nel passato. È uno dei tempi più comunemente utilizzati in inglese.
Il Past Simple ha forme diverse a seconda che tu usi il verbo 'be' o altri verbi. Il verbo 'be' ha due forme al passato (was/were), mentre altri verbi usano forme al passato regolari (terminanti in -ed) o forme al passato irregolari.
Formazione
Forma Affermativa con 'be'
Il verbo 'be' ha due forme nel Past Simple: 'was' (per I, he, she, it) e 'were' (per you, we, they).

Forma Negativa con 'be'
Per fare negativi con 'be', aggiungi 'not' dopo was/were. Le forme contratte sono comunemente utilizzate nell'inglese parlato.

Domande Sì/No con 'be'
Per fare domande con 'be', sposta was/were prima del soggetto.
Esempi:
- Was I late for the meeting?
- Were you at the concert last night?
- Was he angry about the decision?
- Was she your teacher?
- Was it expensive?
- Were we on the same team?
- Were they at home yesterday?
Domande con Wh- e 'be'
Le domande con wh- iniziano con una parola interrogativa (who, what, where, when, why, how), seguita da was/were e dal soggetto.
Esempi:
- Where was I when you called?
- Why were you absent yesterday?
- Who was he with at the restaurant?
- How was she after the operation?
- What was it like in London?
- When were we supposed to meet?
- Where were they last weekend?
Forma Affermativa con Altri Verbi
Per altri verbi, usa la forma al passato. I verbi regolari aggiungono -ed, mentre i verbi irregolari hanno forme al passato speciali.

Forma Negativa con Altri Verbi
Usa 'did not' (didn't) + forma base del verbo per i negativi.

Domande Sì/No con Altri Verbi
Usa 'Did' + soggetto + forma base del verbo per le domande.
Esempi:
- Did I leave my keys here?
- Did you enjoy the film?
- Did he pass the exam?
- Did she call you yesterday?
- Did it work properly?
- Did we meet last year?
- Did they arrive on time?
Domande con Wh- e Altri Verbi
Inizia con una parola interrogativa, poi usa 'did' + soggetto + forma base del verbo.
Esempi:
- Where did I put my phone?
- When did you move to London?
- Why did he leave early?
- What did she say?
- How did it happen?
- Who did we invite to the party?
- Where did they go on holiday?
