Must / Can't/Couldn't +

May/Might/Could + 动词原形

May(中等可能性):

  • She may be stuck in traffic.
  • They may have forgotten.
  • It may not be ready yet.
  • He may know something.

Might(较弱可能性):

  • She might be ill.

Modal + be + -ing

  • She must be working late. (lights still on)
  • They can't be sleeping. (too much noise)
  • He must be joking. (smiling)

  • She might be travelling. (not answering)
  • They could be having dinner.

❌ "She must to be at home."

✅ "She must be at home."

❌ "He doesn't can be right."

✅ "He can't be right."

表示不可能性时使用'can't',而不是'doesn't can'

❌ "They might have be sleeping."

✅ "They might be sleeping."

❌ "It should to work properly."

✅ "It should work properly."

❌ "She must has finished by now."

✅ "She must have finished by now."

过去推断使用'must have',而不是'must has'

Must/Can't:

Should/Will:

May/Might/Could:

Definitely/Certainly100%(事实陈述)
Must/Can't95%(逻辑推断)
Will/Won't80%(自信的预测)
Should/Shouldn't70%(合理的期望)
Would/Wouldn't60%(假设情况下可能)

  • She must be tired (now)
  • They can't be home (currently)
  • He might be working (at the moment)
  • It should be ready (by now)

  • He might have been working (earlier)
  • It should have been ready (by then)

  • Must/Can't: 95%
  • May/Might/Could: 30-50%确定性 - 证据有限的推测
(She must be tired)
(She must have left)
Modal + be + -ing(She must be working)
  • 否定不可能性: 推断时用can't/couldn't(不是mustn't)
